Code of Conduct
The Secure Diversity and Day of Shecurity code of conduct is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone involved, including panelists, sponsors, presenters, volunteers, staff, and attendees in person and online. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form. All communication should be appropriate for a professional audience. We thank our participants and attendees for their help in keeping the event welcoming, respectful, inclusive, and friendly to all participants.
Expected Behavior
We invite all participants to help us create a safe, positive, and inclusive experience for everyone. Accordingly, everyone is expected to show respect and courtesy throughout any conference, event, or other Secure Diversity or Day of Shecurity program at the event and on any communication channels.
- Be considerate and respectful when asking questions and speaking to others.
- Refrain from using demeaning or harassing behavior and speech.
- Be mindful of your surroundings and your fellow participants. Alert staff if you notice a dangerous situation, see someone in distress, or have any concerns.
Unacceptable Behavior
Unacceptable behaviors include intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory, or demeaning conduct by any attendees or panelists at conferences and related events. Harassment includes but is not limited to offensive verbal comments, deliberate intimidation, stalking or following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, and inappropriate physical contact. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.
- While healthy, participatory discourse is encouraged, abusive, badgering, or baiting arguments during an event or any SD or DOS offering is not tolerated.
- Spamming of chat channels – Slack, web conferencing, or another platform – is prohibited. Posting in multiple channels, event sessions, or chats may distract attention from the presentation and should be avoided. Participants asked to stop any spamming behavior are expected to comply immediately, and failure to do so will result in that participant being removed from the various channels.
- Posting any of the following in DOS and SD spaces is grounds for removal:
- Remarks that demean a group of people, including but not limited to those that are racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, anti-Semitic, etc.
- Politically-motivated instigation
- Unwanted social advances
- Doxing or PII information disclosure
- Malicious links or software intended to do harm
- Anything that is known to cause harm or presents false information
