The Secure Diversity Board of Directors has five open positions for the 2024-2026 term. Secure Diversity Leadership announces open positions on their Board of Directors for the 2024-2026 term. As a growing organization dedicated to increasing diversity in the cybersecurity industry, we are seeking passionate individuals who can contribute expertise and leadership to help us achieve our goals. As a member of our Board of Directors, you will play a vital role in guiding the strategic direction of our organization and ensuring our continued success. We have seven open roles – Secretary, Treasurer, and five Director roles. We are particularly interested in individuals who possess the following qualifications:

Experience in Fundraising:

We are seeking individuals with an interest or proven track record in fundraising. As a nonprofit, fundraising is crucial to our success and covering our operational expenses. Your ability to identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors, secure financial resources, and develop innovative fundraising strategies will be critical to our existence and growth as an organization.

Experience in Strategic Planning:

The most successful organizations thrive through effective strategic planning. Board members will bring experience in developing long-term goals and creating actionable plans. Ideal experience to further our impact includes strategic thinking, market trend analysis, and organizational assessments such as SWOT.

Represents and Promotes the Organization to the Public:

Secure Diversity is growing its brand and is seeking board members who will increase our reach. Board members will represent and promote our organization to serve as public ambassadors. Through this representation, board members will serve as an extension of our mission and values. We are seeking board members who can act as ambassadors for our cause and effectively represent and promote our organization to the public. Your ability to communicate our mission, values, and impact to various stakeholders, including the media, community leaders, and potential partners, will be key in raising awareness, building relationships, and enhancing our reputation.

Nomination Process:

1.1 Eligibility

Secure Diversity’s Founder and Executive Director will determine any additional criteria for eligibility and select all nominees.  

Preferred Nomination Criteria and Minimum Required Responsibilities for New Nominees:

  • Relevant industry, professional, or philanthropic experience
  • Exemplary influence and leadership qualities within the cybersecurity field
  • Passionate alignment with the Secure Diversity mission and vision
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to commit up to 10 hours monthly to role and organizational activities
  • Able to attend and actively participate in board meetings (mostly virtual). Board meetings will likely be held quarterly.
  • Willingness to actively serve as board liaison to at least one programmatic area

    • Community Building
  • Prior Board experience is preferred but not required

The term for each Director shall be two (2) years, and board members are eligible to extend.

1.2 Nominations

Nominations for the Secure Diversity Board will be accepted from December 20, 2023, through February 2, 2024 (“End of Nominations”). Nominations will be accepted via the submission form. Individuals may nominate themselves for election.

1.3 Review & Selection

On receipt of the nomination, the submission will be reviewed, and if matches the requirements, an interview will be scheduled with the Secure Diveristy Founder and Executive Director. Upon completion of the interview period, decisions will be made and parties will be notified of outcomes.

1.4 Announcement of New Directors

Candidates who have been elected will be announced shortly after all candidates have been notified. Those selected will officially take office at the Board of Directors meeting in February 2024. Based on schedule requirements, the Secure Diversity Executive Director will hold an ‘orientation’ conference call or meeting to discuss the processes and schedules.
